How To Order At Philz?

Ordering your drink at Philz Coffee is a bit different than ordering at any other coffee house. Following are the steps that you’ll need to follow to order at Philz.

  1. Look for a Philz near you. Unfortunately, Philz only has locations in the East Bay areas and San Francisco. However, you can always visit their online shop.
  2. Locate the order line. At Philz, you need to give your order first and pay for it afterwards, which is the opposite to what you do at most coffee shops.
  3. Wait to be called up. At Philz, only 4 orders are taken at a time as your coffee is made-to-order by the baristas. You need to wait in queue until you hear them say they are ready to take the next order.
  4. Select your drink. In case you are a new comer at Philz, ask for a recommendation from the barista. They sure know how to customize your drink according to your preference. However, if you are adventurous enough, you can go straight to try something from their extensive menu.
  5. Choose a size of your drink. They offer drinks in three sizes: small, medium and large.
  6. Let them know whether you want your drink hot or iced.
  7. Select a sweetener. At Philz, the available options for sweeteners are sugar, Splenda, Equal, Sweet’n Low, honey or stevia. Let the barista know how sweet you want your drink to be. You can have it unsweetened, light, medium, or extra sweet.
  8. Choose your milk or cream. The options to pick from are cream, whole milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, non-fat milk, low-fat milk, soy milk, almond milk, or vanilla soy milk. Tell the barista how creamy you want your drink to be: light, medium, or extra.
  9. Pay for your drink. Tell the person at the counter which blend and size you ordered. Price of most of the Philz’s blends range from $3 to $4 a cup.
  10. Wait for your order to be called. You will have to keep in mind which barista you ordered from as they do not call out your name but your order number.
  11. Give it a taste. Baristas will ask you to taste your drink while you’re still standing at the counter, so they can make sure it’s according to your preference. However, if the drink isn’t up to your taste, don’t hesitate to let the barista know. They can fine-tune it until it’s just perfect.

Does Philz Coffee Make Lattes?

A glass of latte.
No lattes at Philz

No, Philz coffee doesn’t make lattes.

They specialize in making made-to-order, single-cup, pour-over coffee. This indicates that they prepare each cup of coffee individually whenever they receive an order.

They do not offer any espresso-based or blended drinks, such as cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, or macchiatos. They prepare every drink by hand as a pour-over.

If you’ve never tasted Philz coffee before, I would suggest you try something out of the ordinary from their menu, such as an Iced Mint Mojito.

Is Philz Coffee Better Than Starbucks?

Although Starbucks is ranked higher than Philz Coffee in the list of top global brands, I think that Philz Coffee is way better than Starbucks.

The staff at Philz Coffee is always very polite and professional, and they are always willing to help you in selecting the best coffee according to your preferences.

They have a huge variety of drinks, baked goods, and roasts, much more than Starbucks, and each item on the menu is delicious and one of a kind. Their coffee is very creamy and frothy because they use heavy whipping cream.

However, the prices might be a little too high for some people and as the baristas take their time with each customer so sometimes, you’ll have to wait for quite a while.

To Sum It All Up

Philz Coffee is a must-try if you’re after something pleasing and unique in your cup of happiness.

Their tagline “One Cup at a Time” highlights the care and importance they put in preparing each cup of coffee at their shop. And it’s reasonable to suppose that their hard work has paid off handsomely as they have a lot of loyal customers.

Though you won’t be able to sip on your favorite espresso-based coffees at Philz, they do have their own fantastic blends to please your tastebuds. They specialize in made-to-order, single-cup, pour-over coffee drinks and make sure that you always get an excellent drink every time.

The good thing is you can also make a comparable cup of coffee at home by buying beans from Philz coffee shops from their online store, just follow the steps from their website.

If you haven’t had Philz yet, I would suggest you let the expert behind the counter know that you’re a first-timer, and they will be more than happy to make something special for you!
